- Sunday, February 12 at 7 p.m. Our Bible Study in Hunter River and will cover 2 John (if not discussed on the 5th); 3 John; and Jude. Here is some info on Jude: “The book of Jude unmasks pretenders and brings to light the carefully concealed misdeeds of false teachers in the body of Christ. Using graphic word pictures and recalling a rogue’s gallery of deceivers from the Old Testament, Jude documents a history of subversive forces that threatened to destroy Israel and threatened to destroy the early church. Watch out, the letter warns, because “certain people have crept in unnoticed … ungodly people, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ. By blowing the whistle on such imposters, Jude makes sure that they will no longer be “unnoticed.” The author doesn’t give us advice on how to do away with false teachers. He merely urges us to guard ourselves by building ourselves up in the faith. The best protection against deception is a mature grasp of God’s revealed truth. All welcome, fellowship and will follow.
