September 8 is International Literacy Day
In Guatemala, the Francisco Coll School sits on a landfill site surrounded by shelters built by families trying to make ends meet by collecting trash. With the support of Presbyterian World Service & Development, Francisco Coll is providing vulnerable boys and girls with a proper education in a safe environment. Maria Herrera, a student at Francisco Coll, dreams of graduating from university and becoming an administrator. Her mother doesn’t have a reliable income, but with support from PWS&D, she can continue going to the school she loves. In a letter thanking PWS&D for its support she says, “I ask God that every day you have good health and blessings and that you continue to be able to help adolescents achieve their dreams and goals, like me.”

We Pray For
Eternal Father, as rainy spring days, and long sunny summer evenings bring new growth and new life to the earth, may we find new life and new growth for our lives in Jesus Christ. As many travel with family and friends over the comng months, be an ever present travel companion, keeping them safe. As children and young adults take a much needed break from study and school, give them rest, and rejuvenation. As your Church continues to serve the gospel in the world give to us a new sense of your mission in our lives. We pray for the many ministries of your Church, and especially think of Camp Keir, and Harvest House as we partner with them. We also think of those in our community that are hurting , are ill, or are unwell. We pray especially for Heather Ford, Louse Weeks, David MacIntyre, Alan Pound, Eddy Dykerman, Stephen Hickey, Andrew Lush, and Anelia River-Watts. May the words of our mouths, and actions of our hands all bring glory, honour and praise unto Christ. Amen.
