The evening began with a pot-luck supper for members and spouses at the home of Walter and Louise Andrews – we thank them for hosting us once again!
Special services and events:
December 6th – Kelsie MacIntyre will become a member of the Brookfield Church
December 6th – The Hunter River Church Tree Lighting Service will be in the evening
December 11th (storm date: Dec. 18th) – The Annual Caroling Night. We will meet in the parking lot of the Hunter River Church at 6:30pm, and travel from there throughout the Charge and communities. Ending up at the manse for refreshments. If you know of someone who would like to have a visit from our carolers, please let Rev. Beth or one of the elders know.
December 27th – Braelyn Kells will be Baptised in the Glasgow Road Church
If you know of anyone who would like to have a visit and/or home communion, please let Rev. Beth or your elder know.
The next service at Rosewood will be on December 10th at 2:00pm. Everyone is welcome to come and join in this time of worship!
Rev. Beth gave her minister’s report and approval was given for her to take vacation from December 28th to January 3rd (unless her Mother goes in for surgery before then)
Reports from Synod and Presbytery was given, noting: The Rev. Linda Berdan will retire from the Kensington and New London Charge as of December 31, 2009; Presbytery dues for each congregation have been set: Brookfield = $552; Glasgow Road = $736; Hunter River = $644; and as mentioned in our last write up – congregations are to have Directors and Officers insurance (this is in addition to the usual fire, theft, liability if someone gets hurt on our property; this insurance would cover people within an organization from personal liability issues arising from decisions made or actions taken by that particular group) – Kent is going to check into this to see if we can get coverage for the Charge instead of individual churches.
The study series on 1 Corinthians will be held in the new year.
The process to elect one or more new elders in the Glasgow Road Church will begin at the Annual Meeting!
And thinking of Annual Meetings…yes it is that time of the year…each individual Session will hold a meeting before their annual meeting to go over the agenda and other business, so if you have a concern, question, or comment for the Session or for the Annual meeting please let Rev. Beth or one of your elders know.
Hunter River’s Session will meet on Tuesday, December 1st at Shirley Andrew’s house at 7:30pm. The other Session meetings will be announced, as will the dates and times for each Annual Meeting.
Since we know Annual Meetings are in the not-to-distant future, it was agreed that Annual Reports, including minutes of last annual meetings and any congregational meetings, and photos are to be in by Sunday, January 17th – the people to give them to will be announced
The loose offering received at the Christmas Eve Service will go to the Good Sam Fund – to be used for those in our churches and communities in times of need
Each meeting includes going over correspondence that has been received; reports from the Presbytery meeting; and voicing prayer concerns for those ill, going through difficult times, and those celebrating.
The Joint Session will hold their next meeting on January 21st, 2010 at 8:00pm, in the Brookfield Church Hall.
Every meeting of the Joint Session is opened and closed with prayer. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, about this meeting, or would like to have brought up at future meetings – please speak to Rev. Beth or any of the elders in the Charge.
